OK..HERE WE ARE...sand in toes...making footprints on a ridge above PLATTE BAY on LAKE MICHIGAN. What FINE DAY INDEED!!!!! This the same place as YESTERDAY'S painting. Sometimes it's so peaceful when painting...it can lull you into "your zone". You know, that special place where you are at one with the world and whatever you are doing....where the hustle of life is gone.
You can end up doing a great deal of hustling when painting plein air. That ole' sun is movin' on ya! If you plan on doing most of your painting in one setting I would recommend getting the shadows down because they will be moving every hour. If you cannot finish your piece or plan on finishing in your studio, take some photos. DON'T wait until you leave to take the photos! the sun was mid day for today's painting and yesterday's painting.
Empire, Michigan ,off "M 22" would be another place to visit. A charming Michigan coastal town with a fabulous beach, good food and nice people.
I'm sure the Platte River and Platte Bay hold many more paintings for me. Michigan is a place to paint forever..cloudy or sunny....summer, autumn, winter, or spring.
